Playtime hours not reported to GOG, seen as Offline while playing

When I'm playing a game from GOG with Lutris using comet, achievements are earned but playtime is not reported. Is this a bug or not possible at this time?

Secondly, my profile says I'm offline while playing the game.

Also, is the exact time of when I earned the achievements reported to GOG? Currently the website only says 6 August 2025, but nothing about the time.

I think I set everything up correctly cause I don't think I would be earning achievements if I didn't, right? Installation guide was a little confusing and I don't use a Steam Deck. It can be tidied up for normal Linux users I think.

I downloaded comet-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu, renamed it to just comet and moved it to /usr/local/bin. Then I downloaded steam-deck.zip, unzipped it, copied steam-deck/docs/steamdeck/comet_shortcut.sh to /home/nokia8801/Documents. Both are executable files. Then I edited comet_shortcut.sh with my username and replaced --from-heroic to --from-lutris. Finally I added comet_shortcut.sh as pre-launch script in Lutris under Configure>System options>Game execution>Pre-launch script. It seems to be working. comet is a running process in GNOME's System Monitor.

Could my GOG profile settings have anything to do with it?

Hey, playtime is not handled by comet due to the fact that comet may not always be initialized for given game, so I left it out for launchers to handle. If its really needed I guess I could add some params to at least cover games that do connect to comet.

Same as above applies here, its launchers job to report that kind of status, as well as send heart-beats to GOG services to keep you online.

Yes it is, that particular page just shows it that way.

If there is more interest for such features to be handled on comet side for at least games that actually use the SDK I can do something about it.

I'm not a developer of Lutris so I don't know if they have any plans to implement comet anytime soon.

I think comet reporting playtime and online/offline status is better than leaving it to the launchers like Lutris or Heroic. So if comet is running, it only reports playtime of that game while comet is running and you are reported online only while you are playing that game and comet is running.

This means that if comet is not running, the user is modding their game and trying new configurations, launching and closing the game constantly, or they simply removed the comet prefix or launch script, then unrelated playtime is not reported to GOG.

That's just my opinion as a user.

This would just add another step for users to do to maintain a "pure" playtime, when launchers can to that autonomously by having a regular "one-time launch in prefix" thing.

I think an optional switch should probably be considered (--playtime-tracking?) for cases where launchers are too universal to "properly" support GOG services (i.e. Lutris, potentially Heroic) or independent launches (i.e. offline backup installers into manually built prefixes)
