Android TV (Firestick 4K MAX) doesn't display sources in media player except for current source / app. #66566

The problem

I have two firesticks working in HA. Both of them were detected and added via Android TV integration automatically. Here is the physical config:

  • Firestick 4K connected to 'dumb' display.
  • Firestick 4K Max connected to LG C1 through Yamaha RX-V4A over eARC HDMI.

First device works fine, no issues, I can see all the sources in the media player card in Lovelace:

The Second Firestick doesn't show the sources in the media player card, even though these were added manually, as below:

The only app visible in Lovelace is the current app:

I know that manually added sources work because I can switch between them via service call, but why I cannot do this in the Lovelace is a mystery to me.

Hey there @JeffLIrion, @ollo69, mind taking a look at this issue as it has been labeled with an integration (androidtv) you are listed as a code owner for? Thanks!

This is probably the same as JeffLIrion/python-androidtv#292.

This pull request would enable you to resolve this by providing a custom ADB shell command for retrieving the running apps: #65397

It would also enable users to get the integration working properly with Android 11. So I really think that pull request should be prioritized.
