Here are some resources that can help better understand type systems, type inference, and functional programming concepts that are useful for contributing to the Guida compiler:

• Typechecker Zoo — A cute collection of type checker implementations demonstrating modern type checking algorithms from the last fifty years of programming language design.
• OCaml Programming — A textbook on functional programming and data structures in OCaml, with an emphasis on semantics and software engineering. This book is the textbook for CS 3110 Data Structures and Functional Programming at Cornell University.
• Type systems: Lambda calculus to Hindley-Milner — A practical introduction to the lambda calculus, covering the basics of syntax compared to Haskell, OCaml, JavaScript and Python (showing variables, function application and function abstraction) and how we evaluate it (with beta-reduction / β-reduction). Ends with 4 worked exercises to develop familiarity with the syntax.
