I am left a little baffled as to why ".co" was never considered worthy at the very start to be added to the standard list. That means all the ".co", ".co.uk", "co.nz", "co.za" etc etc lose out on 3 precious byte spaces. Please, could you add this?

It's used so much. I don't see why either

That's very interesting. Personally I use eddystone-UID which does not have a limitation on the URL.

As a workaround, you could try a URL shortener like bit.ly

From what I recall, using a URL shortener with eddystone-URL, Google Nearby will resolve the shortened URL and show the full link in the notification.
It's a privacy concern to Google if the link just shows bit.ly/Randomstring so instead it should resolve it to the full link (and track the hit).

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I may be getting URL and UID mixed up here. I know that UID works in this way.

As for needing a dedicated app for UID, I'm not sure what you mean. Are you talking about iPhone needing an app to see the notification?
Because that is currently the case regardless of UID or URL.

For UID, the notification can be updated from Google beacon dashboard once the beacons namespace and instance ID has been registered.
This can be done using google beacon tools on your phone.

In fact, you could even use Google beacon tools to update the attachment from your phone.

“using a URL shortener with eddystone-URL, Google Nearby will resolve the shortened URL and show the full link in the notification.”

That has been my experience when using eddystone URL with an url shortner.
