GLib Timeout doesn't work when the .csproj has lots of entries #1138

I've noticed something really odd with the GLib Timeout function. Normally when you either call GLib.Functions.TimeoutAdd() or GLib.Functions.TimeoutSourceNew(), it will always call the source function on every interval that it's set to.

But watch what happens when you create a huge .csproj file with lots of <ContentWithTargetPath> entries:

GLib Timeout won't even run its source function at all when the csproj file is configured like this. No idea why.

Could this be an issue with GirCore itself? Or could this be an issue with the CLR?

I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve but I would say it is related to your csproj file. Not an error of GirCore or the CLR.

Can you share a minimal sample?

Yeah, I'd say the csproj is very likely the cause. But I can definitely show an example.

Sorry I can't reproduce as my system is not configured like yours. It looks like you want to copy all the dependent binaries to distribute your app on windows?

If the app is working in an msys2 environment and not working if you copy the dependent libraries manually into some other location it looks like there is something missing from the msys2 environment.

I should also note that when I tested this, it was on Ubuntu 24.04. So it might be a missing dependency or perhaps some other dependent library had overwrote one of the important libraries needed for the function to operate.

Also, I forgot to remove the project reference from the csproj (since it's not needed for reproducing the issue). It should now be reproduceable on Ubuntu 24.04.

I changed your code and can reproduce that if libgobject gets added the timeout stops working. Unfortunately I'm not a linux sysadmin or proficient enough in C to be able to tell you if this is a supported use case from a C point of view. I think from dotnet it is not a problem. But perhaps the binaries are not supposed to copied around or you are missing some optional dependency which is critical for glib timeout functions to work?
