Set Visitor not working

Is it necessary to have specific extensions, installations, or something like that in order to make setVisitor function work? I can't manage it to work anyway. I debugged it and I verified the values I'm passing to the function are correct. But I can't change visitor details, no matter the way I try it.
Any hints? Thanks.

I didn't find a way to get it working, but when I enabled secure mode and used setAttributes instead, I got the right results. So, if anyone has the same problem, try that on and it might work.
