Description of request

This tutorial aims to address frequent confusion and misinterpretation of assembly data in the taxon index.

There are cases when the assembly index is the best alternative for data retrieval:
Ex:

  • choosing best assembly for a species (Capra ibex example)
  • looking for assemblies above a certain quality (protist examples)
  • when the best assemblies do not have annotation data yet or only mitogenomes (beetles and protist examples)

Tutorial Format

slide deck and wiki FAQ entry

Additional context

Use enquires received from users after the ASU visit (jan 2026) and emails from users (jan-feb 2026) for content creation
