I have tried using
blobtools view --out ./ --format png --plot --view blob BlobDir
and adding --param or --query parameters to change the taxonomic rule by which the blobplot displays the results. However, the plot always displays the taxonomy by phylum. Other family information is present in the metafiles and was added with blobtools add hits . Unfortunately, the documentation about this point is not clear on this for command line users. A clear description in the Tutorial would be very useful.
