Colour specific category

At the moment, if a categorical variable has more than (10?) categories, the BTK viewer will colour the most abundant categories and lump everything else into an "other" category.

Sometimes when working with highly contaminated/diverse samples (e.g. sponges), the labels I would like to view are comparatively rare - 500 contigs out of say, 30k contigs, and I cannot label these specifically without creating a new variable. It would be nice to have an option in the viewer to force BTK to display a given level when desired, to aid locating the correct blob for inspection.

Not sure if it gets you exactly what you want, but you can update the order that the taxa are listed by dragging a name from the list of "Other Taxa" in the Summary panel up into the list of Counts above. e.g. for Phyllospongia foliascens

This fixes the order so any taxa you've promoted will be plotted before everything else and is stored as a comma separated list in the URL (where commas are escapes as %2C) so you can update the URL directly to save dragging and dropping, e.g. the end of the URL might look like:

/blob?buscogenes_phylum--Order=Rhodothermota%2CDeferribacterota

And if you want more category colours, that's not possible in the interactive viewer, but can be done using blobtk plot. There's an example with custom colours in the wiki, which you could combine with the --cat-order flag to generate custom static plots.

Oh, that's perfect - exactly what I need. Is there documentation for features like this somewhere for the viewer? I get the impression it's more powerful than it at first seems, but isn't necessarily that discoverable.
