Many mime-types have enormous file sizes for what they are. Often, this is due to an unnecessary amount of detail within the product logos that are present on them. The Debian package is perhaps the biggest offender:
Stripped of it's base, this is showing 18.7kB at 24x24, for a hilariously large amount of detail that no one will ever be able to see at that size. The primary spiral itself counts 96 nodes, which can slow editing software down quite a bit.
