Your use case

What would you like to do?

I'd like to be able to select + copy only a part of a bigger message

Why would you like to do it?

In order to extract a smaller part of a bigger message and not having to copy the entire message to a separate text editing app in order to do that

How would you like to achieve it?

By pressing and holding on the text of the message and using the Android text selection handles to pick which part I want to copy

Have you considered any alternatives?

Copying the entire message into another app and making the selection there, but that's cumbersome

Additional context

No response

Are you willing to provide a PR?

No

I see the same annoying thing. And i did some research, which apps can do, what i want...

SchildiChat does it. (the deprecated old one!!!)

Tap long on a message highlights the whole message, opens the options for message and shows the whole message-text above, where you can mark and copy parts of the text.

Android X (and Schildi Next) show only a part of that message, and it is not selectable.

The other thing... SchildiChat (the old one.... and i think also Element, the old one too) have the abilitiy to copy only a link in a message on tapping for longer on that link directly.

Here is the whole functionality from Schildichat in a screencast
