Today every line of Granularity has one copyright holder. That keeps several doors open: correcting a defect in the licence, publishing a commercial edition, dual-licensing, or transferring the project to a foundation.
The moment a contribution arrives without an agreement, those doors close. Nobody can relicense someone else's code without their permission, and finding a contributor two years later to ask for it is, in practice, impossible.
This agreement is deliberately narrow. You keep every right you have in your contribution. You are granting a licence, not handing over ownership.
By submitting a Contribution to any repository of the Granularity project, You accept the terms below.
"Author" means Evgeniy Fureev, the copyright holder of the Granularity project.
"You" means the individual or legal entity submitting a Contribution.
"Contribution" means any original work of authorship — source code, documentation, configuration, tests, translations or other material — that You intentionally submit to the Author for inclusion in the project, in any form and by any means, including pull requests, patches and issue attachments.
You grant the Author a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable licence to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense and distribute Your Contribution and such derivative works.
This licence expressly includes the right to distribute Your Contribution under licence terms of the Author's choosing, whether existing at the time of Your Contribution or adopted later — including terms that differ from the licence in force when You contributed, and including commercial terms.
This is the clause the agreement exists for, and it is stated plainly rather than implied by broad wording elsewhere.
You grant the Author and to recipients of software distributed by the Author a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable patent licence to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import and otherwise transfer Your Contribution, where such licence applies only to those patent claims licensable by You that are necessarily infringed by Your Contribution alone or by combination of Your Contribution with the project.
If any entity institutes patent litigation alleging that Your Contribution, or the project to which You contributed, constitutes patent infringement, then any patent licences granted to that entity under this agreement terminate as of the date such litigation is filed.
The licences above are non-exclusive. You retain all right, title and interest in Your Contribution. You may use, sell, license and distribute it however You wish, including under a different licence and to other parties.
You represent that:
- Each Contribution is Your original creation, or You have the right to submit it under the terms above.
- If Your employer has rights to intellectual property You create, You have received permission to make the Contribution, or Your employer has waived such rights, or Your employer has executed a separate agreement with the Author.
- Your Contribution includes complete details of any third-party licence or other restriction of which You are aware, identified in the Contribution itself.
- You are legally entitled to grant the licences above.
You are not expected to provide support for Your Contribution, and unless required by applicable law You provide it as is, without warranties or conditions of any kind.
The Author is under no obligation to accept, merge, keep or distribute any Contribution.

It is made under your own authenticated GitHub identity, it is timestamped, and it lives in the repository history — which is precisely what a record of consent needs to be. A check on every pull request verifies the entry is present.
Trivial fixes do not require signing. A typo, a broken link, a wrong number in a
sentence — a maintainer applies the trivial label and the check is skipped. Copyright
does not subsist in a one-character correction, and demanding a signature for one is
bureaucracy without a purpose.
Сегодня у каждой строки Granularity один правообладатель. Это оставляет открытыми несколько дверей: исправить дефект лицензии, выпустить коммерческую редакцию, ввести двойное лицензирование, передать проект фонду.
В тот момент, когда приходит вклад без соглашения, эти двери закрываются. Перелицензировать чужой код без разрешения автора нельзя, а найти его через два года, чтобы спросить, на практике невозможно.
Соглашение намеренно узкое. Все свои права на вклад вы сохраняете. Вы выдаёте лицензию, а не передаёте собственность.
«Автор» — Евгений Фуреев, правообладатель проекта Granularity.
«Вы» — физическое или юридическое лицо, направляющее Вклад.
«Вклад» — любое оригинальное произведение: исходный код, документация, конфигурация, тесты, переводы или иной материал, — которое Вы намеренно направляете Автору для включения в проект, в любой форме и любым способом, включая pull request, патч и вложение к задаче.
Вы предоставляете Автору бессрочную, всемирную, неисключительную, безвозмездную, безотзывную лицензию воспроизводить Ваш Вклад, создавать на его основе производные произведения, публично показывать и исполнять их, сублицензировать и распространять.
Эта лицензия прямо включает право распространять Ваш Вклад на условиях лицензии по выбору Автора — как существующей на момент Вклада, так и принятой позднее, включая условия, отличные от действовавших в момент Вклада, и включая коммерческие условия.
Ради этого пункта соглашение и существует, и он изложен прямо, а не подразумевается общими формулировками где-то ещё.
Вы предоставляете Автору и получателям распространяемого Автором программного обеспечения бессрочную, всемирную, неисключительную, безвозмездную, безотзывную патентную лицензию изготавливать, использовать, предлагать к продаже, продавать, ввозить и иным образом передавать Ваш Вклад — в отношении тех патентных притязаний, лицензируемых Вами, которые неизбежно нарушаются самим Вкладом или его сочетанием с проектом.
Если какое-либо лицо инициирует патентный спор, утверждая, что Ваш Вклад или проект нарушает патент, все патентные лицензии, предоставленные такому лицу по настоящему соглашению, прекращаются с даты подачи иска.
Лицензии выше неисключительные. Вы сохраняете все права на свой Вклад и вправе использовать, продавать, лицензировать и распространять его как угодно, в том числе на другой лицензии и другим лицам.
Вы заявляете, что:
- Каждый Вклад создан Вами лично либо Вы вправе направить его на изложенных условиях.
- Если права на создаваемую Вами интеллектуальную собственность принадлежат Вашему работодателю — Вы получили разрешение, либо работодатель отказался от таких прав, либо работодатель заключил с Автором отдельное соглашение.
- Ваш Вклад содержит полные сведения о любых известных Вам сторонних лицензиях и ограничениях, указанные в самом Вкладе.
- Вы вправе предоставить перечисленные лицензии.
Поддерживать свой Вклад Вы не обязаны и, если иное не требуется применимым правом, предоставляете его как есть, без каких-либо гарантий.
Автор не обязан принимать, вливать, сохранять или распространять какой-либо Вклад.
Добавьте себя в .github/cla-signatures.json в своём первом
pull request. Этот коммит и есть подпись: он сделан вашей аутентифицированной учётной
записью GitHub, у него есть отметка времени, и он живёт в истории репозитория — именно то,
чем и должна быть запись о согласии. Проверка на каждом pull request убеждается, что запись
есть.
Мелкие правки подписи не требуют. Опечатка, битая ссылка, неверное число в
предложении — мейнтейнер ставит метку trivial, и проверка пропускается. В исправлении
одного символа нет объекта авторского права, и требовать за него подпись — бюрократия без
цели.
