manage custom domain

for the custom domain to be applied to all static sites hosted on gh_pages, it needs to be configured for the dsmjs.github.io repo. However, that complicates the deployment of the main site since that repo can only deploy a static site from the master branch, as mentioned in #2.

lets use this issue to track details that we figure out about what the appropriate approach needs to be.

Might be simpler if we just don't host the main site in gh pages. Netlify is becoming a very popular contender
