Support for twitter api v2 #429
Comments
Hi @eeftychiou , it's unclear at the moment when this will be on the roadmap for TCAT, but our tool 4CAT contains support for the (academic and standard) archive search: https://github.com/digitalmethodsinitiative/4cat. |
Hi @stijn-uva and team - are there plans to support V2 underway at this stage? |
Hi @galaxiebrain , we currently have no plans to support v2 in DMI-TCAT. Work is underway to implement v2 streaming support in 4CAT (linked to above) but it is currently difficult to give a precise estimate on when this will be completed. You can find more information on this wiki page: https://github.com/digitalmethodsinitiative/dmi-tcat/wiki/The-Future-of-TCAT. |
Hi @stijn-uva! It looks that the statuses/filter endpoint will soon be deprecated (https://twittercommunity.com/t/announcing-the-deprecation-of-v1-1-statuses-filter-endpoint/182960). Does it mean that DMI-TCAT will stop working? Do you recommend migrating to 4CAT asap? Thanks for your amazing work. |
This tweet provides additional information on the future of DMI-TCAT.

Describe the bug
Are there plans to support twitter api v2 which provides for "specialized product track for researchers grants free access to full-archive search and other v2 endpoints released to date. It also includes a significantly higher monthly Tweet cap, and enhanced features and functionality to get more precise and complete data for analyzing the public conversation"
