== The big risk of electronic elections == ''[http://computerworld.dk], 24. October 2012''
Carsten Schürmann talked with [http://computerworld.dk Computerworld] about the enticing idea of electronic elections. However, several examples from trials around the globe suggests that the technology behind electronic elections could pose democratic problems. If the fundamental trust in the democratic system weakens it can be difficult to undo the damage. For example it might have a negative impact on the high Danish turnout.
Examples from The Netherlands show that the election computers could be hacked to perform completely different tasks such as playing chess. In Germany electronic elections has been declared unconstitutional.
The Norwegian trials from 2011 where nine municipalities experimented with electronic elections could be a way forward. According to evaluations the trials has not meant a decrease in trust. Carsten Schürmann still feels that more trials are needed and DemTech is currently examining the code behind the Norwegian system to see how secure it was.
