Cannot disable microphone self-monitoring (sidetone) - hear own voice in headphones and speakers #10

Description

@ABPa1n

The problem

I hear myself in my headphones and speakers while streaming via Decky Streamer. It's annoying, distracting, and creates echo. The mic should work for viewers, but I shouldn't hear my own voice.

Steps to reproduce

  • Connect JBL Tune 510BT Bluetooth headphones.
  • In Desktop Mode, switch to HSP/HFP profile to enable the headset mic.
  • Start streaming through the plugin.
  • Speak into the mic – I hear myself.

What I've already tried (nothing worked)

  • Adjusted the mic slider in the ... menu – if set to 0, viewers can't hear me; if raised, monitoring comes back.
  • Checked sound settings in Desktop Mode and pavucontrol – there's no "listen to this device" option to disable.
  • Tried using the Steam Deck's built-in mic instead of the headset – still hear myself through the speakers.
  • Rebooted the Deck – no change.

What I suspect

Either it's a SteamOS quirk, the plugin forces monitoring on, or it's hardware sidetone in the headphones (but then why does it happen with the built‑in mic too?).

My setup

  • Steam Deck (OLED)
  • Latest stable SteamOS
  • Latest Decky Streamer from GitHub
  • JBL Tune 510BT headphones

What I need

A clear instruction on how to completely disable self-monitoring, so viewers hear me but I don't hear myself. If it's a plugin bug – fix it; if it's a setting – tell me where.

Thanks.
