Direct download for packaged extension?

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I use Cursor AI, which is built on top of VS Code. The Install link from the marketplace doesn't work directly with cursor, and I don't see the extension in my list of available extensions when searching (it's possible Cursor uses a subset?) , but I know that I can install it if there is a direct download available.

For those in the same situation, I successfully got around this by doing the following:

1. Download VSCode
2. Install jsonpath-extract for VSCode
3. Install the VSCode packaging tool cli vsce with npm install -g vsce
4. Copy the VSCode extension with cp -R ~/.vscode/extensions/davidmarek.jsonpath-extract-1.2.3 ~/
5. Enter the copied directory cd ~/davidmarek.jsonpath-extract-1.2.3
6. Delete the vscode:prepublish script from package.json
7. Run vsce package from inside the directory to generate a .vsix
8. Drag the .vsix file into the Cursor extensions panel.
9. Viola!
