--cidfile: to hide or not to hide

In #25512 it was noticed that, of the commands supporting the --cidfile flag, pause, restart, unpause and stop hide it on remote clients, whereas rm and kill don't. We could not think of an argument in favor of hiding so decided against it for exec.

Did we miss something? I.e. is there a reason to hide the flag?

Shouldn't all of the above commands behave identically in any case?

at the time, iirc, there was debate about whether we should extend cidfile support to remote clients. specifically, if it makes any sense or not. given the popularity and wide use of the remote clients, I think it is worth reconsideration. I would encourage you to file an RFE (issue) here to get a definitive answer as opposed to a discussion.

As long as the files are only read client side there should be no reason not to support it.
