Description

issue

showcases a major flaw in the overall version processing @ AIDE.

Some facts/thoughts/suggestions

  • AIDE is a product
  • Users expect to update the product similar to the mother product (VSCode)
    • Help => Check for Updates
  • Sidecar is an integral(!) subsystem of AIDE
    • A necessary update should be show much more prominently, thus a user does not miss it
    • Sidecar Version should be shown in the "AIDE->Help->About"
    • Sidecar Versions should be bound(!) to the AIDE IDE Version

Reproduction

🔄 System Enhancement: Streamlined the Sidecar versioning and update process to make it more user-friendly

  • Added: Configuration in product.json for displaying Sidecar version in Help -> About section
  • Improved: Update notifications with interactive dialogs and version binding between AIDE and Sidecar
  • Enhanced: Version management to automatically handle required versions and show more prominent update messages
