API docs link goes to json - is it possible to have more info on API?

Hello
I would like to use the API to do those steps
Search applicant > patent ID (may be family only) > compounds > download structures and metadata (like frequencies).
I think all is possible via the API, but the docs goes to a json/xml page and it's hard to know how to fill some of fields and filters.
For example in exportDocumentChemistry there are fields with options, but I'm not sure what they accept and how to use them. And where I could ask "family" rather than all the same patents.
