switched role prohibits manual activity completion in text/media elements

Users reported that to test a course switching role from trainer to learner doesn't allow activity completion to be marked manually in a learning map. Manual completion is needed in text/media elements, see picture.
If the completion is used as condition for further activities these cannot be reached when testing. Our schools are not allowed to set up test accounts so they're trapped here.
