I am using swift and carthage in my project, so the pod installation does not work for me.

Thanks for pointing that. Unfortunately one of the dependencies used in project (APAddressBook) doesn't have Carthage support so it's not straightforward how to add Carthage in this lib (Alterplay/APAddressBook#63).
