Hey so heads up, Gentoo only offers an outdated vorta on GURU.
GURU is like the AUR for Gentoo, this means anyone can commit to it, but that is less than ideal for security.
Arch Linux has had recent problems with their AUR in several vulnerable packages, I would prefer to use an overlay maintained by Vorta's devs. Currently only kbackup has official Gentoo support, and it is not a perfect backup tool. Timeshift also still uses rsync which is broken as the rsync dev uses AI.
Please consider making an overlay for Gentoo that portage can hook onto. GCC is the default compiler, but other users may also use clang. Gentoo works like legos, so dependencies must be explicitly set for Vorta, it would be better than using flatpak. I had broken my previous install by uninstalling flatpak as it is heavier on RAM than native and it is unoptimized. Portage can use march=native in a make.conf
Incase vorta devs want to sabotage any future maintainers from using AI, please consider uploading to codeberg as it's TOS makes AI commits against the rules of it's service.
