Why does the searchIndex function take so much time compared to the api on aws iot console

    indexName: 'AWS_Things',

};

let start = new Date().getTime();

iot.searchIndex(params, function(err, data) {
      if (err) console.log(err, err.stack); // an error occurred
      let end = new Date().getTime();
      console.log('process time: ' + (end - start));
});

I have around 600 things

• from my local code, it takes around ~15secs
• from the api on aws iot console, it takes only around ~1secs.

What would be the different and how can I improve?

as I run it locally from Asia and aws iot region that I use is US, that why it takes very long. after I run it on a server in US, it 20x faster
