The problem

I very often get values 'unavailable' for all entites of the washing machine. The error log report 'timeout fetching data'. See log in "anything in the logs..."

The error disappears after a while.

Version of miele integration having the issue?

2024.8.1 (as displayed on the integration main page)

Version of Home Assistant Core having the issue?

2024.8.2

Anything in the logs that might be useful for us?

This error originated from a custom integration.

I have the same issue too. Using Unifi router/switch/APs without any radio disconnects from the Washing Machine (WEG365), but getting timeouts multiple times per hour. WiFi is virtually interference free, as I’m living in a house end of terrace in the UK.

These timeouts are caused by slow response from the Miele cloud servers and are normally not caused by network problems.
Perhaps we should try to not log and not react to the first timeout but only if we see multiple timeouts in sequence.

Additional issue is that these timeouts cause the Controls to become unavailable. Unline the sensors and diagnostics, they don't recover. I need an integration reload to bring them back online.

@astrandb so what you are seeing is that the Miele API needs 20 seconds to reply? That's impressively long.
I also run the Miele integration in the Loxone ecosystem, but there I have no issues with timeout - however since it is a black box I cannot determine its timeout handling.

I reload the Miele integration every night with an automation. That seems to alleviate the problem. Also, I think (but have no records about that), that whenever you turn the machine on, the integration recovers. I am keeping an automated log in a google sheet, and I am not ware of having missed a washing.

Ok, I've been doing some changes on my WiFi and VLANs (I have full Unifi infrastructure). It seems that everything got solved (no timeouts since 7th December when I did the changes) once I created a VLAN for IoT and a 2.4Ghz SSID for IoT, configured with "Enhanced IoT Connectivity" on Unifi. All the problems are gone now, so these errors does seem to point to a WiFi connectivity issues, as much as we don't want to admit it... Not sure if people in this thread with Unifi want to test it?

I've got one U7 Pro Max, one U7 Pro Wall and one U6+ (where the Miele W1 is always connected to): once I moved all the IoT devices (including the Miele W1 WEG365) to the IoT SSID with "Enhanced IoT Connectivity" mode in Unifi, the problems are gone. This also applies to 3 Daikin AC units which have local API, and all the timeouts are also gone...

EDIT: I'm on public release channel on Unifi, so I still don't have the firmware with the supposed IoT corrections on U7 line which loads of people say it solves the IoT issues for people with more than 30 IoT devices (and that's not my case, I have less than 20).

Hi, so to confirm, you are/were on Network v8.6.9?

Correct, I'm still on v8.6.9 (and was at the time of my post). I'm actually about to upgrade to v9.0.108 this week.

An update on my previous post: while the Miele integration continues free of disconnects since my post, the Daikin integration timeouts came back approximately 1 week after the migration to the new IoT SSID. I'm still trying to follow this up with the Daikin integration owners.
