It'd be great to release 0.6.1.4 on pypi, since this would then close:

• would it be possible to have python-3.13 wheels ? #676
• pypi wheels have missing / incorrectly linked shared object files #691

We need the following prior to release:

• don't include cythonized cpp files #701

I think #705 is something to do with doing builds-from-source with older versions of setuptools. I'm keen to hear back more on that issue. I suspect the resolution will probably be us providing some more documentation on how to develop for the package (if e.g. we need to recommend that people use a virtual environment such that pip can install the appropriate version of setuptools).

I haven't seen any issues with the automatically-built source distribution and wheels, so I don't think it needs to block a pypi-release.
