Regarding pure black/white image generation

Hi there,

In the past I've accidentally downloaded multiples of the same NBP outputs and while flipping through them I can clearly see different wavy patterns which I assume is the watermark.

Which leads me to believe that the watermark is generated dynamically every time you press the download button - which shouldn't use up your generation quotas, so you might be able to generate way more pure black/white images by redownloading the same output.

But please correct me if I'm wrong. I have multiple pro accounts so I can try to contribute by generating different aspect ratios.

I see what you’re getting at. I gave your approach a try, but I didn’t notice any significant difference in SynthID. Still, feel free to share those images - they could be a valuable contribution!

Hmm, actually I wonder if that behavior is only true for 2k images, now that I think more about it it might actually be the upscale process that's causing the watermark to differ, coz afaik 2k images and 1k images have the same API cost and 2k images might simply be upscaled 1k image, and when you click download it reruns the upscale process which is why it takes ~10 seconds to download 2k images.

In gemini chat it usually defaults to 2k download until you hit a number of token usage within the same chat or after a certain number of regenerations, then it regresses to 1k until you start a new chat.

The following 2 pairs of images were from the same exact chat session but downloaded twice:

If you quickly switch between the two you can see some very small differences in details, that being said if it's simply an upscale process and the watermark is embedded in the original 1k image then maybe the watermark stays the same afterall 😅

Also I think these are all the officially supported aspect ratios, do we need to create a codebook for every single one of these aspect ratio at 1k and 2k to cover all use cases?
