Related to packaging systems, there is a new development in EOSC. For long-term reproducibility, they suggest using a method that relies on the software source code eventually. I can understand that MaRDI still relies on binaries, and therefore, short-term reproducibility and exchangeability are more important than open source and long-term stability. However, since MaRDI is an NFDI project and therefore related to EOSC, I think it would be good to link to the Newsletter from the blog post https://www.softwareheritage.org/2025/05/21/software-heritage-guix-deployment/, to show that we, as a consortium, are aware of the EOSC developments.
