gettext install not working

gettext just stops making progress for me. It's been stalled for 3 hours now. Past-due told me to expect to wait a while, but I think this is beyond what's reasonable.

Any ideas what it is doing? It's 2:30pm my time and nothing in vcpkg/buildtrees/gettext has a timestamp newer than 11:40am, about the time I started the get-dependencies_win.ps1 script.

I reached out to the vcpkg folks, and received the following suggestions:

It depends on which step it got stuck, usually the most relevant logs are:

• config-<triplet>-<err|out>.log
• build-<triplet>-<err|out>.log
• install-<triplet>-<err|out>.log

The order is config -> build -> install . So if the install logs are missing, then check for build errors, if there are no build logs check for configure errors and so on...

Also very rarely, the output will not print until you hit Enter. I'm not sure if we ever found out what caused it or if it has been fixed at all.

I've experienced the output not printing without hitting 'enter', but gettext there's something else going on. I'll keep learning.

It stalls in the configuration stage for x86-windows-dbg. I can see a bunch of activity for a few minutes, then all of the processes that are running underneath the parent Powershell process stop having any activity. While those processes are active (e.g. bash, cmake, sh, vcpkg executables) they are consistently modifying files under vcpkg/buildtrees/gettext/x86-windows-dbg. The config.log in that folder continues to grow. The last thing that appears to be occurring in the config.log file is a check for any chinese locale. Those processes mentioned above are still shown as active, but it's quite clear no progress is being made as the once-growing config.log stops growing.

I'm attaching the config.log from that folder as well as a couple of other log files in case anyone wants to look.

Got that package to finally compile, but only through manually killing stalled bash processes - once each for dbg and rel. Once gettext finished, none of the remaining packages had this problem. Weird.
