Run Archiver on Command Line

Is it possible to run the Course Archiver on the command line? When trying to do it thru the web interface, it times out.

We are experiencing the same behavior, it times out when run in a browser. The existing CLI looks like you have to have a coursename or ID, but it would be nice to have a save point parameter as an option for the CLI script.

You can run the Course Archive on command line (https://github.com/Syxton/moodle-tool_coursearchiver/blob/master/cli/coursearchiver.php).

It works great, but, indeed, it would be nice to have a save point parameter as on option. Currently, if I do a course search based on the date of last access and I send information emails to hide or delete them later, I will not find the same list on the day I actually want to delete them if I use the CLI.

Some requests through the web interface are indeed long, and I had to increase the server timeout. But when there are a lot of deletions of large courses, it doesn't go without increasing this timeout. The use of save points by the command-line tool could fix this.

I suspect there might be a couple of things at play here:

1. The backup process is being run synchronously. The size of the course will have a massive impact on timing. This could be done asynchronously - see block_sharing_cart for an example
2. There are known issues with the backup process duplicating badges so some backups could be huge as a result c.f. https://moodle.atlassian.net/browse/MDL-78495
