[FEATURE] Get cart of user to show notification

All "ecommerce" need a way to get cart of user and show a notification in navbar , for example, to incentive finish the purchase.

There is no endpoint in the api to return this information... Could this functionality be included in the roadmap?

And while ... what is the best way to recover this information? Any suggestions / ideas?

What exactly are you planning to do? If you want information about the cart like the amount of items it has you can use the GET /shop-api/carts/<token> endpoint. You probably want to store that information somewhere in the client anyways.

If you are talking about notifications like Popups and stuff, this is not part of the API. To be honest I also don't see this as a part of the API. The reason being that this sounds like a quite niche feature (as far as I understand it).

To know, if the user has items in his cart, you will need to make a query to the cart endpoint: https://github.com/Sylius/ShopApiPlugin/blob/master/tests/Controller/Cart/SummarizeApiTest.php#L34

To make this request, you need to store the current cart token in some local storage. Once storage is gone, we are not able to bring back carts for the visitor. However, we should be able to restore order for logged-in customer (if he claimed cart already). There is no ready to use endpoint for that, but you should be able to do it with custom get operation for /carts which will list all orders in state cart for the logged-in user(only one in vanilla Sylius installation), or non for guest. The second option is to extend JWT token response. My advice would be to go with the first solution, as it seems to be cleaner for me.

Generic carts endpoint could be added to ShopAPI at some point, so we can fetch the current user cart. In my opinion, it should be considered a feature suggestion.

If you need something more sophisticated, some SSE would be the way to go I suppose.

Thanks for the answer and the advice, the first suggested option is what we already did back when we first faced this problem.

What would be the way to ask for this feature to be in the Sylius Roadmap?
