in V13 creating a note with type "Text" will default to a font in white color. But since most backgrounds on notebook are very bright or even white, you cannot really see what you have written. The only workaround would be to use "Enhanced Text" type but that one quite a bit more cumbersome to work with.
I am running V13 with the most current version and as a game system I am using Old School Essentials (though I am not sure if the game system has any hand in this behaviour).
Clarification in case this was not clear: The white text only shows up in the side bar view. Once the note is popped out the text appears as it should.
