Game: Find Inspiration
Wanted: Experienced programmer with a passion for beautiful code.
How do you write beautiful code when you don't even know what it looks like? What if you could feel inspired to write beautiful code every day, and know exactly how to do it? Put on your code hunter hat... You're going to find inspiring code to place in your code journal!
Pull up GitHub and navigate to your favorite open source project. Click on the first source file that strikes your fancy. Scroll down until you spot a chunk of code that looks interesting to you. It could be a single line, a few lines, a method, or even a whole class!
Examine the code. Does it strike you as beautiful? If so, copy it in to your code journal, noting where you found it. If not, move on.
After you've found a few examples, revisit your new journal entries. Examine each one more closely. Why do you like them? Why do you feel they are beautiful? Make a note of why each entry strikes you as beautiful.
