I noticed that the DeepEdit nuclei segmentation model was removed from the Pathology App in MONAI Label v0.6.0 (December 2022). I checked the release notes and found that new pathology models like NuClick, HoverNet, and Nuclei Classification were introduced around the same time.
I’m asking because I’m planning to do data annotation for segmentation and classification in the future, and I was considering using an active learning approach. My goal is to correct model predictions in a loop, updating the weights iteratively to improve the next predictions. DeepEdit seemed like a good fit for this workflow due to its interactive nature.
Could you clarify the reason for the removal of the DeepEdit nuclei model? Was it due to performance issues, maintenance concerns, or redundancy with newer models? Also, is there any recommended alternative for interactive nuclei segmentation with continuous learning in MONAI Label now?

Thanks in advance for your insights!
