When I'm editing speaker notes, if I cut, copy, or paste it instead cuts, copies, or pastes on the slide. I would expect when the speaker notes are focused that cutting, copying, or pasting would affect the text there instead.
My workaround for now is using the context menu in the speaker notes for cut/copy/paste, but that slows me down. :)
