Consider Renaming Project Please

First, I'm very happy that you're keeping this project alive! I use olive (compiled from source) to make videos on my youtube.

I'd like to kindly suggest renaming the project.

• This will help prevent confusion should MattKC (the original dev) release his rewrite
• This is exactly what the developers of Friction did (revived project Enve)

Rename to Oak Video Editor

• Recalls the similarity to it's roots in Olive, while making it distinct.
• Keeps the tree/green vibe of the app
• Emphasizes commitment to strength and longevity

thanks a lot for raising this topic — I totally agree with you. The idea of changing the name is definitely an interesting one, and using a different name could be a good move.

I don’t dislike Oak, especially since it keeps the idea of a tree, which is a strong and meaningful concept. That said, personally I would have liked to suggest something like LibreVedit.

The “V” could stand for Video, while Edit (or Editor) makes the purpose of the project immediately clear. As a name, it feels short, direct, and with a bit of punch.

The reason for using “Libre” is that one of the most successful open-source projects today is LibreOffice, and the term “Libre” is already widely used and well recognized in the open-source ecosystem (for example, LibreGraphics and similar initiatives). It immediately conveys the idea of freedom and openness.

Possible options could be:

LibreVedit / LibreV-Edit

LibreVeditor / LibreV-Editor

@enzogianvittorio Your logo looks amazing! It definitely gives me "Linux app" vibes like KDEnlive or Libresprite. However, I feel a name like that can be more difficult to appeal to a larger user base because it combines acronyms and words and may be harder to pronounce, though.
