Being ableto do without the dashboard

Hello,

I have my own git server, and no dashboard (whiwh seems discontinued anyway).

It would be nice to have a way to connect to a server using just a user, a server, port, a key and a path to the git folder repository (like in the add hosted project > "on my own server" from the windows based sparkleshare app).

Currently, I'm stuck with the android app: no way to generate the barcode... or the link info it awaits...

I second this. The Android app seems to be completely incompatible with the newest releases of SparkleShare.

To connect to a self-hosted SparkleShare server, this app wants and "Address" and a "Link code". The Address seems fine, but the link code can't be generated by the newest PC-side stuff. If the Android client was more like the PC client, it would need an "Address" and a "Remote path", but also generate a "Client ID" which must be fed to the self-hosted server to authenticate the client.

I don't have much hacking experience, but I think I've tracked down the code that needs to be changed in "ui/SetupFragment.java" in the "doInBackground" method, in order to change the "Link code" requirement. As for the all-important "Client ID", I believe this is just an SSH key, which will need to be generated somehow.

We can use the notifications.sparkleshare.org:443 notification service, but it's going to require grafting both a Git library (which can be pulled from the aGit source, since I believe the licenses are compatible) and an SSH library (for generating and using the keys for access).

If someone is willing to do some of the UI modification work, I believe I can do at least some of the transition work to move to performing the sync tasks that were "outsourced" to the dashboard application.
