[Feature Request]: TiRex in Darts

Dear @martinloretzzz and NXAI team,

Thank you for your work on TiRex. I am truly impressed by its performance on GIFT-EVAL and fev. For the past few months, I've been a key contributor to Darts, a popular time series library, and so far provided latest foundation models such as Chronos-2 and TimesFM 2.5 under sklearn-like forecasting APIs.

Naturally, it would be remiss of us to not include TiRex in Darts considering its strong performance and efficiency. Therefore, would you be open to contributing a TiRex model implementation in Darts? I am happy to assist best I can or co-author a PR should you prefer.

In terms of technicality, Darts offers two ways of implementing foundation models and you are free to chose either of them:

• GlobalForecastingModel which is a base class to interface external libraries such as tirex-ts.
• FoundationModel which is a base class to allow a PyTorch-native implementation and uses HuggingFaceConnector to load model weights from HuggingFace Hub, same way as tirex-ts does.

thanks for reaching out and for your interest in TiRex.

Integrating TiRex into Darts sounds like a great way to increase visibility and adoption of the model. After a short internal discussion, we decided to go with the tirex-ts wrapper approach and implement a GlobalForecastingModel that interfaces the existing package, keeping TiRex as the single source of truth.

If you’d like to get involved, you’re very welcome to jump in. We’re happy to align early on API details or probabilistic output handling.

Let us know what you think would be the best way to proceed from your side, and then let’s make this happen.

Thank you for your quick response and the generous offer to contribute code. I've created an issue in Darts library (see unit8co/darts#3016) to align on API design between you and Darts owners and to host discussions, a standard process before starting a PR in Darts.

I’m confident your team will be able to drive the implementation end-to-end. In terms of my roles, I will participate in the issue discussion, and once you open a PR, I’ll be happy to help with testing and to provide thorough feedback.
