Description
I am trying around with a limited-area setup of MOM6 coupled to SIS2 in different regions.
In the North Sea, I observed small, sharply bounded areas of lower SST.
I simplified the configuration to an absolute minimum and chose a rather trivial setup:
- No initial velocities.
- Potential temperature and salinity are homogeneous.
- No tides.
- Bathymetry: 40 m for all wet points.
- Wind forcing: constant eastward velocity of 0.1 m/s (no wind velocity at all leads to a crash, so that is not possible).
After only one hour, the areas with lowered SST occur:
In a more complete setup, these patches are very strong after a few hours of simulation time, I think they are unphysical.
Everything that is needed to reproduce the issue is attached in the zip file.
I would appreciate some guidance on what could cause this.
