ProphetBase User Guide

Welcome to ProphetBase, the premier prediction market on the Base network. This guide will help you navigate the platform, make predictions, and manage your portfolio.

Getting Started

1. Connect Your Wallet

  • Click the Connect Wallet button in the top right corner.
  • Supported wallets include Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask, and Rainbow.
  • Ensure you are connected to the Base Mainnet (or Base Sepolia for testing).

2. Get Some Tokens

  • You need ETH on Base for gas fees.
  • You need USDC (or the platform's native token) to buy shares in markets.

Exploring Markets

Dashboard

The home page displays all active markets.

  • Search: Use the search bar to find specific topics (e.g., "Bitcoin", "Election").
  • Filter: Use the dropdown to sort by "Most Recent", "Ending Soon", or "Most Volume".
  • Categories: Click on category pills to filter by topic.

Market Details

Clicking on a market card opens its details.

  • Probability: See the current market sentiment (e.g., 60% YES / 40% NO).
  • Chart: View the price history over the last 24H or 7D.
  • Activity: See real-time trades happening in this market.

Trading

Buying Shares

  1. Select a Market.
  2. Choose YES or NO.
  3. Enter the amount you want to invest.
  4. Review the potential payout.
  5. Click Buy and confirm the transaction in your wallet.

Selling Shares

Currently, you can hold shares until the market resolves. Secondary market trading coming soon.

Market Resolution

  • Markets automatically resolve via the oracle after the resolution date.
  • If you hold winning shares, you can claim your winnings.
  • Winning Share Value: Each winning share is redeemable for $1.00 (minus fees).

Managing Your Portfolio

  • Watchlist: Click the Star icon on any market to add it to your watchlist.
  • My Positions: View all your active and closed positions in the Dashboard (coming soon).

Troubleshooting

  • Transaction Failed: Check you have enough ETH for gas.
  • Funds not showing: Refresh the page or checking your wallet on BaseScan.
  • Contact Support: Reach out on our Discord or via Twitter if issues persist.
