[Feature request] Optional timings for CRT Tvs #35
Comments
I would say that there is not much that can be done about this, the limitations are set by the requirements of the CGA/Tandy module based on the Graphics Gremlin project. |
i wish i understood better the requirements and the difference. My tv actually display something but half shifted on the right and clearly in distress. Thanks anyway for the answer! |
Just as information, when booting the machine, CRT tv display is fine. The 640x200 text screen is perfectly fine. The TV sync on that and is great. When starting some application ( alley cat or arcade volleyball ) , depending on the application, while all being reported as 640x200, some part of the screen shifts and distorts. |
My understanding is that CGA computers were meant to be compatible with consumer TVs (15KHz), right? If the limitation comes from the Graphics Gremlin module, then the issue should be opened there, I guess. |
Try the latest update made by RetroSwimAU. However, before updating the core it was also working fine for me on CRT: https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?p=94875#p94875 Maybe a recent update of the MiSTer framework has fixed that problem? I do remember having problems with the CRT, but not anymore. |
Would it be possible to have an option in order to output timings that are NTSC/PAL tv compatible?
I understand the intent and purpose of this would just to avoid people having a CRT monitor and a CRT TV for different cores, but i would like to undertand if this would be a possible option or an impossible option because of technical requirements ( factoring out the need of an extra configuration bit )
