Sortable & BottomSheets

Hi,

when implementing sortables somewhere in my app, all resizeable bottomsheets in any stack starts to flicker when resized. Any idea how to prevent sortables doing that?

Hey! Can you possibly share a repro repository with the example implementation showing what is happening?

I also wonder how the sortables library could affect the native modal component. Since I don't use any native code in this library, something like this shouldn't happen because of the sortables library itself. I suspect that this might be related to reanimated or gesture handler which my library depends on.

Have you tried adding an Animated.View component from reanimated with some simple animation and seeing what happens in such a case? The issue looks very strange so I don't know what to suggest to debug it.

looks like you somehow opt out of liquid glass, also the tabs are not like mine.

yes i wanted to suggest that this must be some gesture thing. i also ran some test to render an simple grid when sheet is active with a global state and unmount sortables. that works fine. since the native sheet is react-native-screens based, i assumed you maybe know what to look into, since you work @ softwaremansion:)

I ran it again, now properly on iOS 26 (the previous recording was from iOS 18.5 without a liquid glass). I was now able to see the modal content flickering issue but it also happened when I removed the Sortable.Grid component.

It is hard what this issue is related to. Likely something is wrong in react-native-screens and the content is measured too late or the update to the modal content dimensions are applied with a delay, after the modal is already moved, thus the content's size update is delayed and you can see this flickering.

Are you able to reproduce the issue without the sortables library? If you can, can you open the issue on the react-native-screens repo? I work in the reanimated team and don't know internals of react-native-screens so likely someone from the screens team should take a look at the issue. I can also ask someone to look at it once we have a repro that doesn't use sortables.

sure, i can do that. in my video you can see that it works without sortables mounted. i mean you know that for sure, but some clean restart of expo sometimes needed ;)
