Thank you so much. Have you worked with Agriculture related IoTs before ? Will you be able to contribute on creating a draft plan ?

For example, not every estate will have electricity and internet connectivity to keep sending telemetry data to cloud. So we will have to plan on inter connectivity within IoTs / sensors to work locally and make pre-defined decisions based on available limited historical data.

And IoT hub or whatever you build should be able to work in high availability and sync data to cloud whenever connections restored.

I am basically looking for low energy consumption + to use renewable energy to run everything.

I came across your post and felt it connecting to my background as it requires a dual disciplinary approach from agriculture and IT. AI is moving fast, and I honestly believe it’s going to change the game for agriculture in Sri Lanka. Seeing a local project actually tapping into that potential feels refreshing and I’d love to be part of it, even in a small but meaningful way.

I’m from Mawanella and can easily travel to Kurunegala whenever needed. I’ve worked as a research scientist at SLINTEC, where I led greenhouse trials with tomato plants for biofertilizer development. From preparing soil and planting to inspecting crops daily and collecting data, I’ve done it all hands-on.

While my academic background is in microbiology from Rajarata University, I’ve also studied IT through the first two levels of BCS HEQ program. These days, I’m getting hands-on with Python and working towards machine learning not just learning the theory, but I also wanted to solve problems in research topics I have been dealing with for quite sometime. I really enjoy bridging science and tech, and that’s why this project caught my attention.

What I can bring to the table is a solid mix of scientific know-how, practical experience in agri-based trials, and a growing skill set in tech. I’m also a team player (as evident through volunteering experience mentioned in LinkedIn) who’s not afraid to take initiative, get involved in the field, and help move things forward, whether it’s in data collection, experimentation, or applying digital tools to agri problems.

I’d be genuinely happy to contribute in any way I can.

Hi, I’m Thilina, a final year IT undergraduate from Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, based in Kurunegala. I recently led a completed research project on an AI-based, user-personalized interior color matching tool using user clustering, fuzzy logic, deep learning, neural networks, and real-time visualization. I’ve done multiple ML-focused projects and have experience with supervised/unsupervised learning, and data analysis. My tech stack includes Python, React, Android (Java), and more.
