High RAM usage

When editing a large menu the RAM usage on the local machine skyrockets to extremely high levels (9GB+)

@JMWa36 - This is pretty typical for any WordPress site with a large menu. The nav menu editor hasn't been updated in nearly a decade and even has hard limits on the size of the dataset that can be passed in.

That said do you have any other plugins/theme that add custom menu fields like ours does? Typically users who experience this the worst have more than one, on top of large menus.

Effectively WP core its not built for that, every menu item has data points for every field (cores, ours + others). Its simple math after that 100 items * 10 fields = 1000 data points, easily pushing the limits of what PHP can even send over a single request.

Typically this has very little to do with our plugin though. There are several issues open for nearly 10 years on wordpress trac about it, but at this point I don't think it will get resolved, instead the nav menu editor is slowly being replaced by the Full Site Editor using gutenberg.
