Minutes of March 5th 2024 Meeting

Present at meeting: Rene Meusel, Mike Ounsworth, Daniel Van Geest, Tomofumi Okubo, Brendan Zember, Alexander Ralien, Corey Bonnell, Felipe Ventura, John Gray

Team is getting ready for the Hackathon on March 16th and 17th.

• We will have virtual meetings on Saturday March 16th 11am AEST, 3pm AEST. Sunday March 17th 1pm AEST. AEST is (Australian Eastern Standard Time). We will use Gather Town Hackathon table G (as usual). https://gather.town/app/L4fNNdm1NJa1sE2v/ietf (password notewell)

Round Table Discussion:

• The team welcomed Rene Meusel to the group. He is interested in working with the new PQ algorithms, Round3 kyber, Dilithium, SPHINCS+ and McEliece and will work on updating the Botan provider
• Mike Ounsworth - Would like composite KEM artifacts to use in an updated version of the draft (https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ounsworth-pq-composite-kem/)
• Daniel Van Geest - Has posted KEMRecipientInfo artifacts to the repository and Kyber has been updated.
  • Question of how stable is Composite KEM - The part that overlaps with XWing is not so stable (the combiner). A bit of discussion that implementations could make the combiner function modular so only minor changes are needed when the final combiner is decided.
• Tomofumi - Looking to attend the Hackathon and may work on the Discovery draft (https://www.ietf.org/id/draft-lamps-okubo-certdiscovery-00.html) and will talk about it in Vancouver along with transition mechanisms
• Benden Zember - NSA - Looking at standards world so there are no surprises when transitioning. Working on the related certs implementation for the artifacts repo (https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-lamps-cert-binding-for-multi-auth/) and looking at composite signatures. Mike Jenkins is going to Brisbane.
• Alexander Ralien - Interest in CMP related stuff - Generated payloads for CMP so others can use for interop testing. Automated CMP compliance test suite. Alex has implement some KEM specific tests. Some example KEM specific data structures, parse and load.
• Corey Bonnell - Development work being done in PQC, about a year and a half. Will work towards getting composite signature implementation to version -13. Will be splitting with SCITT hackathon table.
• Julian Pratt/Cryptonext security - Will continue to work on signatures and looking to implement composite signatures.
• John Gray - Implementing Composite signatures -13, will have artifacts to post for next hackathon. Also looking at Chameleon certificates and KEMRecipientInfo
• Felipe Ventura - Composite signatures -13 implementation in Open SSL is almost ready to be merged, and may be Merged by the time the hackathon starts.

Other Items:

• Compatibility Matrix - We should make sub matrix pages for different protocols, for example KEMRecipientInfo, CMP, Composites, Certificates so the result are easier to view.
• Mike to reach out to Pravek about Hackathon and composite KEM implementation.
• John to update the Composite OIDs list in the OID list
