@Patowhiz and @rachelkg the main examples for gt are here. They may have the same structure, as I explore here, namely:
Reduce to a data frame that provides the data for the table. That's usually a summary step, but is a filter for the first (countrypops) example.
Use pivot-wider to put into an appropriate "shape" for gt. That will often be a wider data frame.
Make it presentable using gt.
@Patowhiz I am preparing a document that may become a video. This goes through the first 2 stages of preparing the data for gt, but in R-Instat. Then you come in!
I suggest this could be a reasonable way to combine writing the help, plus providing other resources, and - at the same time - provide you with good examples to test the progress on your pull requests? The first one is relatively trivial, so perhaps a good place to start. Here it is, with the first 2 stages in a word document and the resulting dataset also given, so you can start from data in the right form for your dialogs/pull requests.
