Delete whole word with the horizontal delete key swipe.

Currently the horizontal swipe on the delete key deletes alphabet by alphabet which is good for precession but needs much more focus for accuracy. Being able to delete word by word would be a great edition for some people like me. Sorry if the issue already exists, I tried looking for some similar issue but couldn't find any.

Holding down the delete key also deletes character-by-character, so it is redundant behavior for delete-swipe to do that too. I see the utility in changing one of them, although I would argue that long-pressing the delete key would be better suited for word-by-word deletion, since the presumption of doing delete-swipe is that the user wants fine-grained control

In Windows, holding down the Delete key deletes character by character. I'd like a consistent behaviour with Heliboard.

I would prefer if the delete swipe is changed to delete by word, and we keep the hold delete behavior of character by character deletion.

But a desktop computer is not a smartphone, and it's unreasonable to expect the UI to be the same between them. There is no "delete swipe" because touchscreen is not the primary interface - although the closest analogue might be the touchpad, where if you click and drag across a line of text, it does highlight it, character by character, where you can then press the backspace key.

I'd like to have a setting to control the "Hold Delete button" because I prefer the default behavior of deleting letter by letter.

"Delete swipe" is an optional setting. Some users may have this disabled leaving "long press on delete" as their default multi-delete process. I'd rather have precision deleting (letter by letter deletion) remain on "long press on delete" which every user uses.

+1 on swipe deletion be able to delete word by word. Could be a toggleable option.

I usually delete and rewrite whole words instead of only up to the mistype, as is much faster for me. And it's much more practical when you want to delete some section or phrases.

I'm coming from gboard, and I feel word by word swipe deletion should be a necessary feature. Atleast as a toggle.

I come from SwiftKey so I'm very used to long pressing to delete whole words, it's very handy when inputting wrong word using swipe typing

You can't be serious, this discussion is dragging on too long. Leave it to the user to decide how they want it to behave.

Even if rejected, you should be able to merge it in and build the .apk yourself (because, realistically, how often do you actually need to update your keyboard..?)
