Long-press backspace to remove the entire word + inserting space after word automatically

I come from SwiftKey, and two features that I'm missing (or couldn't find ways to configure) are: the option to long-press the backspace to delete the entire word, and when selecting a suggestion or typing the comma or dot, placing the space before I type the next word. I know I can set it to auto add spaces, but I would like them to be placed on the input without having to type the next letter.

I have exactly the same requests!
And there is something to swiftkey that works just so smooth. I can almost type blind. But I love how close this heliboard gets and how much there is to adjust!!!!
I am also longing to raise the keyboard a bit from the bottom of the screen upwars, but I did not manage with the settings / scales jet to do this.
I know got back to swiftkey with netuard and vpn split tunneling active, but prefer to move over to heliboard and be free of all of that!

Yep, raising the keyboard is also something I'd like, although not as essential as the other two items. Another thing that is bugging me is not having an option to set the number keyboard to be in a "numpad" format, like when setting SwiftKey to right or left side number keyboard. I'm really impressed with Heliboard though, so I continue using it and hopefully those items can be addressed soon! 🙏

I just swapped over from swift board as well and would love to have those features.
here is a list of stuff I'd love tone implemented also

• space after selected word visible
• long press to delete words
• hold spacebar acts like a cursor instead of only going horizontal or vertical at a time
• control the font and location of the alternative keys
• option to slightly raise the number row (I keep hitting them too frequently now)

If you press and drag on the backspace key, you can easily delete the whole word, or even several words

For me it's really slower, less reliable and less convenient. Would love the option.

Me too. It is very intuitive it doesn't feel like a 'feature' on SwiftKey. Current implementation (erase by letter or hold and swipe) is slower and requires 'more attention'. With erase by word, no matter how long/short the word is, it will be erased with the same and predictable time.

Adding my voice for this as well, I'd love to be able to stick with Heliboard but between this and the fact that the . key doesn't have ,!? on long press, I'm considering just going back to SwiftKey.

I'm pretty sure you can remap the symbols that show up on long press of the . key.

Hold to backspace:
There is a person who has a working hold to backspace on an older build, but the developer has not pushed it though yet. If the functions from their version to the latest don't matter to you then it's worth installing. The alternative is wait and pray they add it to the next build whenever the developer decides to jump back in from hiatus or decides to get other people to help. (Check my open issues and someone replied the link)

Swift key . long press:

• in settings navigate to secondary layouts, functional keys
• replace this line
  { "label": "period", "labelFlags": 1073741824 },
  with this
  {"label": "!hasLabels!", "label": "!needsDividers!", "labelFlags": 2}, { "label": "!" }, { "label": "?" }, { "label": "," }, ] }},
• save as a copy
• select your new layout

Note: the initial long press is defaulted to ! but the order is , ! ?
So if want to change or add to the key understand that the code order ≠ display order
