I am a fan of whitenoise and NIP-104. :-)

The p2p layer for frostr is abstracted via the nostr-p2p library. Currently we use NIP-04 with GSM instead of CBC for the encryption method. I also have code ready to upgrade to NIP-44 encryption in the near future.

I have to study up on MLS more to see if it would be a good fit. There's some things we don't need, such as group managment.
