I have considered getting into those ecosystems, but I am still not sure whether it is worth it. I am not sure how popular Fusesoc is, and how many people are actively using it. If the user base is large, it might be worth investing some time in setting it up and maintaining it; otherwise, this just becomes overhead. I have always been sceptical about this sort of "package manager" thing in RTL, as they never seem to solve the problem well enough. This sort of stuff needs an entity to define the package specification that is universally agreed upon, and requires the hardware engineers to set up the design as required, which most won't care. Edalize is a different kind of problem, as it does what Librelane does. I can see myself down the line adding a nextpnr step and a bit-gen step to drive the flow that way. |
